01 · City Introduction
A practical introduction to the sights, food, transport and pace that shape a stay in Lijiang.
Lijiang pairs Naxi old towns with the high silhouette of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Walk the lanes and canals of Dayan, slow down in Shuhe, explore Baisha murals and plan a weather-aware mountain day. Naxi dishes, preserved pork ribs and local flatbreads add regional flavor. Lijiang Airport, railway services and ride-hailing connect the towns, though old-town lanes are mostly pedestrian. Allow four to five days, with extra flexibility for mountain weather and altitude.

Turquoise Water Below the Snow Peaks
Combine the valley with the snow-mountain scenic area, allowing for shuttle time and avoiding an overly packed same-day schedule.

A Dedicated Gorge and Hiking Day
Choose a viewpoint visit or a longer hike according to fitness, weather and current trail conditions; do not treat the gorge as a quick city stop.

06 · FAQ
Practical answers for international visitors planning old towns, altitude and mountain days.
Four to five days works for an old-town day, a snow-mountain day and time in Baisha or Shuhe. Add time for Tiger Leaping Gorge or Shangri-La.
Dayan is livelier and central, Shuhe is calmer with balanced access, and Baisha offers village atmosphere and wider mountain views.
Lijiang is already at elevation and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is much higher. Rest on arrival, avoid rushing and seek medical advice for personal health concerns.
Ticket, transport and cableway procedures can change. Check the current official process, use the same passport details throughout and keep the day flexible for weather.
Many lanes are pedestrian only. Confirm the nearest legal drop-off point with your host and arrange luggage help if your home is deep inside the old town.
Weather, visibility and trail safety vary by season. Check short-term forecasts and current trail notices rather than relying only on a general seasonal recommendation.
